how to build team

Working in any organisation requires us to work in teams. So if you are leading a company or sections within a company, the knowledge on how to build team is critical to ensure your success. Organizing a team-building event can be a healthy and productive exercise. To assist you to make a jump start, we include some ideas for you to consider.

a. orienteering
Basically it can be any events that requires the participants to race against time using the some sort of navigation equipments such as map and compass. It can be a jungle tracking from point A to B using a given map and compass.

It is interesting and challenging activities to develop individual as well as team's skill such as learning to trust team members and relying on them for decision makings. From here, leadership skills can be identified and developed.

b. Treasure Hunt
Closely linked to the orienteering is the treasure hunt. It is a good avenue to test your communication skills, leadership as well as decision making. The event is more suited to younger group of employees or students as they can be themed to spur interest. The prices can be an incentives for such event.

c. Sailing
Sailing is gaining popularity. It is something a little more strenuous and calls for an excellent team building. It is not limited to improving skills but it can also invigorate and enlighten the participants. Once the hard work of tracking, jibing and lashing are complete, the participants can lay back and enjoy the open sea. It will leave a memorable and lasting impression on the participants involved.

d. Mysteries.
For indoor fun event, a traditional favorite is the murder mystery. The beauty is that the event can be organised quickly and does not interfere with your daily fixed schedule. It is good as a starter for new teams and the financial outlay will be very small.
